My part-time job

I’ll introduce you to my part-time job. I’m working as a waitress in a Japanese style bar in Wako city. I think it is like a Japanese restaurant. Because the bar recommend menu are sake, fish in season, Obanzai (means Kyo-to style home cooking), and broiled. There is a head chef in the kitchen. He cooks fish and always arranges it artistically, also he is an interesting person. Therefore, I think he increases customers. Recently, a foreigner customer came to there. So, I tried to speak with him in English. But it is not easy to explain about Japanese dishes and types of sake in English.

I always sell fish on tub in the restaurant.　When I bring tub to the customers table, they almost surprise. This is one of my many pleasures. Then, I show the customers fish on tub, and I have them choose fish. It is so heavy, and it makes me tired. Fish variety is changing everyday, so I have to memorize a lot of  fish names, how to deliciously cook of fish. Also have to memorize many names and types of sake. It difficult for me. Because, I'm not interested in fish  names and sake. First of all, I didn’t notice that the restaurant is a Japanese style bar and have to memorize fish names. So they are inflict me. But, I came to understand fish names just looked it.

Also,　The average amount of money you spend on food and drink in the restaurant was about 4,000 yen. I think this restaurant of staff are very friendly and warm personality, so there is comfortable. I’m very pleased about with my part-time job.    

Jack’s Mart

I’m going to introduce about my favorite shop in Kawagoe city. The shop’s name is ‘Jack’s Mart’. It is vintage american toy, character, collectible shop and small and narrow shop. But there are many figures, posters, cups and board games. The location of the shop is in Creamoll near the Kawagoe station. Go straight Creamoll and turn right second corner you can see the Jack’s Mart. 

There are many kinds of comic goods. For example, Disney, Warner, Peanuts, Smurf and so on. So if you visit there,  you’ll think messy shop. But I think there are pleasure and treasures. My most favorite character is ‘Smurf’. Smurf is fairy that has blue skin and live in the forest. There are many kinds of personality smurfs, for example,  baby-smurf, brainy-smurf, strong-smurf, and so on.

Also, the store’s the price of goods are from what has a cheap price to a high thing. The shop will be open at 11:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. If you want to extend the closing time more, you can do it. But, you need to reserve with phone ahead of time. Then,  this shop is closed on Wednesdays.

I asked the three questions to a shopkeeper. First, what is mean ‘jack’s mart’?　Second, what’s the most popular character in jack’s mart? Third,　how old is this shop?

‘Jack’ is shopkeeper's nickname. But he is Japanese.

・What’s the most popular character in jack’s mart?　Peanuts character’s goods are popular in this shop.

・How old is this shop?　This shop opened in 2010.  And you can use online shop of jack’s mart.

I think jack’s mart is very interesting shop. This shop is very narrow, however,  there are many kinds of characters vintage goods. Also,  I felt the shopkeeper is agreeable person.  Why don’t you go there? I hope you will like it!

LEAP&Lounge

Building 2,2nd floor is supporting your English skills good place. You can read SRA or thin book in English at LEAP,and you can practice speaking in English with Ken at Lounge. I think  he is friendly and sociable person, so you can enjoy learning English. Also, you can talk with JSPs in English or Japanese. There are always many Language communication students in Lounge. But, of course any degree students

can use there.

Building 2,2nd floor has LEAP and Lounge. LEAP has mean, L(language) E(education)A(assistance)P(program). And there is lounge, lounge has English Lounge. There is foreign staff, and we can talk with him in English. Also, many JSPs come to TIU for study Japanese. We can learn English from them, and we can teach Japanese to them. We have opportunity that we can make foreign friends. In this article, I will research about what can I do at LEAP? Can All students use English Lounge?or Language Communication students only? And what do English Lounge staff usually do except English lounge? What can we do at LEAP? LEAP is supporting yours English skills. For example, you can borrow SRA and thin books in English. You can improve your English skills by read to them. If you want improve your English skills more, you should read more. All student can use English Lounge? or Language Communication students only?　No, any degree students can use it. If you want to study English or you  are interested in English, you can use it. Not only Language Communication students.

What do English Lounge staff usually do except English lounge?　Nick was English Lounge staff. He is not teacher.When he does except English Lounge, he play the guitar with JSPs, go to Karaoke, and so on. Also, Ken is a new English Lounge staff, and he has English Speaking class. So he usually teaching English as a teacher. There are always many Language Communication students in Lounge. But, of course any degree students can use there.
